7 Adventures Your Kids Will Try at Blue Mountain Summer Camp

There’s something special about summer camp spent outdoors. Not the kind filled with packed schedules and screens, but the kind built on fresh air, new friendships, and moments that help kids grow in ways you can’t always plan.

At Blue Mountain Summer Camp, every day is built around adventure; including the small, meaningful moments where kids try something new, make a friend, or realize they’re capable of more than they thought. Here are seven adventures your kids will experience this summer when they’re a camper at Blue.

1. Climbing to New Heights

At Mountainside Camp (ages 4–12), kids take on new challenges and experiences, from navigating high ropes courses and climbing walls, to testing their balance and bravery on net bridges and net trampolines in the Adventure Park.

For older kids, Mountainside Legends Camp (ages 13–14) builds on that same foundation with more advanced challenges and team-based activities designed for those ready to push further.

2. Paddling Around

Some of the best summer memories start at the shoreline. At Beachside Camp (ages 6–12), days are spent on Blue Mountain’s private beach, where water games, swimming, padding around on water crafts, and beach sports keep kids active and connected. It’s a setting that naturally brings kids together, whether they’re teaming up or just enjoying the freedom of being outside on the water.

3. Honing Their Sport

Trying something new can be the most rewarding kind of challenge. At Monterra Tennis Camp (ages 6–14), kids work with Ontario Tennis Association-certified coaches to build real skills through games and practice. It’s a program that balances structure with fun, giving kids a sense of progress while still keeping the experience social and encouraging.

4. Exploring the Escarpment

For many kids, the best part of camp is the variety. That’s what makes Mountainside Camp a favourite for so many families. Campers might spend one part of their week riding the Open-Air Gondola to take in the views, another exploring hiking trails across the escarpment, and another tackling attractions like the Cascade Putting Course or Chutes & Loops ball run.

They’ll also cool off at the Plunge! Aquatic Centre, with its pools, rope swings, and water play features, before heading back out for group games, scavenger hunts, or creative activities. And for many, Pizza Fridays become a highlight. It’s a simple way to celebrate a full week of trying new things together.

5. Stepping into Leadership

As kids get older, adventure starts to look a little different. The Counsellor In Training Camp (ages 14–16) is designed for teens who are ready to take on more responsibility. Over 10 days, they develop leadership skills while earning certifications in First Aid, CPR, and Safeguard training. It’s also a meaningful next step, as Campers who complete the program receive priority consideration for future summer camp counsellor roles, turning one summer into an opportunity for what comes next.

6. Making New Friends

Some adventures are less about what kids do and more about who they do it with. Across every Blue Mountain camp, kids are placed in age-appropriate groups and guided by counsellors who focus on creating a welcoming, inclusive environment. Whether they’re working through a ropes course together, teaming up in a scavenger hunt, or sharing a laugh between activities, friendships form naturally through shared experiences. By the end of the week, many kids leave with friendships that carry beyond camp.

7. Crafting and Collaborating

New this year, each week of camp will have a theme for Mountainside and Beachside campers! Whether they’re learning about the natural world during Wonder Lab week, crafting their best mask during Superhero week, or acting their way through Hollywood week, kids get to explore camp in new ways each time they attend. It keeps things feeling fresh, encourages creativity, and gives kids new ways to connect with each other through shared experiences. For returning campers, it means there’s always something different waiting for them.

A Summer That Stays With Them

At Blue Mountain, summer camp is about more than filling the days. It’s about giving kids the space to grow, connect, and discover what they’re capable of. They’ll come home with stories, new friendships, and a sense of confidence that lasts long after summer ends. And more often than not, they’ll already be asking to come back.
