Mid-Season Safety Reminders at Blue Mountain Resort

We’re halfway through the ski season at Blue Mountain, and now’s a great time for a quick refresher on slope safety. Whether you’re cruising greens or tackling double blacks, staying safe keeps the fun going for everyone.

1. Stay in Control and Be Aware

  • Ski Smart – Stay in control, yield to those ahead, and avoid stopping where you can’t be seen.
  • Look Before You Go – Check uphill before merging or starting downhill.
  • Respect Signs and Closures – If a trail’s closed, it’s for a reason.
  • Report Incidents – If you’re in or witness an accident, let Ski Patrol know.

2. Helmets: A No-Brainer

Wearing a helmet is always a good idea—it keeps you warm and helps prevent head injuries. If you’re under 17 and in a Snow School program, helmets are required, as well as in Blue Mountain terrain parks.

3. Know Your Trails

Check the trail map and stick to runs that match your skill level.

    4. Be Ready for the Conditions

    • Dress in Layers – Weather changes fast; be prepared.
    • Stay Hydrated and Fuelled – Take breaks, drink water, and snack throughout the day.
    • Adjust to Snow Conditions – Surfaces change; ski and ride accordingly.

    5. Terrain Park Etiquette

    • Start Small – Know your skill level before hitting jumps and rails.
    • Check Features First – Inspect the setup before going for it.
    • Wait Your Turn – Let the person ahead finish before you go.
    • Clear the Landing – If you fall off of a feature or jump and are uninjured, please move off to the side away from the landing zone to avoid collisions.
    • Be Aware – Don’t ski or ride through the park unless you intend to try the features. Always look uphill before crossing the landing or takeoff of a feature.

    6. Emergencies and Ski Patrol

    • If something happens, call Ski Patrol ASAP.
    • Stay with the injured person and give clear details about the location and situation.

A little safety goes a long way! Keep these tips in mind, respect the mountain, and enjoy the rest of the season at Blue!
