Travelling solo to Blue Mountain

Travelling solo doesn’t have to mean being alone. Whether it’s because your schedules don’t line up, or you’re just interested in going different places, sometimes it can be hard to convince your friends or family to come along for the adventure. Just because you can’t get anyone to come with you it doesn’t mean you need to miss out. Coming to Blue Mountain alone can be unexpectedly awesome. Follow these few tips and tricks and you may even want to travel alone more often.

WHERE TO STAY

Blue Mountain has a wide range of lodging options including condo and hotel style rooms. Remember to book in advance. You can save up to 15% off per night by planning ahead.

HOW TO GET HERE

Getting here is easy, with a wide range options available to fit your needs. You can drive yourself, hop on an AUC shuttle, take the bus, or even fly here if you’re feeling fancy.

WHAT TO DO

Hit the Slopes

Skiing and snowboarding are one of the rare activities that can be just as much fun solo as with a group. The day is completely yours to go down whichever runs you like. It can be nice to have a quick chat with a stranger on the chairlift, then head off to travel at your own pace.

If you love the comradery of skiing with a group, joining a lesson might be a nice option. Not only will you improve your skills, but you will also gain a built-in group similar skilled people ski with for the day.

Grab a Cold one

Something special happens when people go on vacation to Blue Mountain. A side effect of our youthful mindset is that people become more open to making new friends, particularly at après. If all else fails, pull up a stool at the bar and the friendly bartenders in Blue Mountain are always keen to chat.

Not sure where to go? Some of our favourite après spots include the slope-side 6ix Pack Bar, the classic Irish Pub atmosphere at MJ Byrnes,  and the seemingly endless selection at Northwinds Brewery.

Indulge

Travelling alone is the perfect excuse to pamper yourself. Indulge in some self-care with a relaxing massage at Iwa Spa or Kalola Spa . To take your relaxation to the next level with a day lounging in hot tubs, saunas and relaxing solariums at the beautiful Scandinave Spa.

DINING

Dining solo can be one of the most daunting parts of travelling alone. If the thought of sitting alone at a restaurant makes you stress, there’s no need to worry. The wide range of dining options in Blue Mountain Village can save you from booking a table for one.

Dine on the Go

With all of our stunning views it seems like a waste to eat inside. Grab some food to go from fast service locations like the Pita Pit, the Yeti Mountain Food Truck, or a hearty Chuck Burger to enjoy with mountain views.

Delivery

You may love your hotel room so much that you would want to nest in when not on the slopes. You can savour your meals from the comfort of your room by either ordering take out or room service, if you’re staying at the Westin Trillium House.

One of the best parts of travelling solo is that you can get away whenever works for you. If you have some time to get away, now could be the perfect time for you to start planning your getaway. Visit bluemountain.ca or call 1-877-445-0231 for your one stop spot for everything you need to plan and to book your ultimate solo vacation.
