Over a year ago, work began on an upgrade to the Valley Express (formerly the Century Express). The aptly named Valley Express celebrates the beginnings of skiing in Ontario right here at Blue. The project has been a massive undertaking for our teams who, alongside our lift supplier, Leitner-Poma, have been targeting completion prior to the 22/23 ski season.
Although circumstances beyond our control, including supply chain and shipping challenges, have resulted in unexpected parts delays, we’re determined to power ahead with the season. Should snow conditions allow, we will open all terrain at the Blue Mountain Inn and in the North as early as possible. This may mean that if we continue to be in a holding pattern with the chairlift work, lift operations at the Inn might not align with our trail operations, but that doesn’t mean the ski experience at Blue will go downhill. Our teams are prepared to adapt with the following steps as needed:
- Our Mountain Operations team will do everything possible to have a connecting trail from the North to Silver Bullet if terrain is available.
- We will have free and frequent shuttle service from the base of the Weider Express lift.
- The Inn Café will open along with available terrain at the Inn / North with limited services.
- We will continue providing weekly updates on construction progress both on our social media channels and here on our blog.
Updated Resort Shuttle Service: Green Line
In anticipation of guests needing transport across the Resort, we have added the new GREEN LINE resort shuttle service. This complimentary guest shuttle will have stops at the following locations:
– the Weider Express / North Ticket Booth
– the Inn Ticket Booth
– the Village Drop-off
The Green Line will run daily from 10am – 5pm starting tomorrow, December 23.
This service will continue through to December 30 and will extend past that date should it be needed.
Let’s Ski the Valley! Now OPEN December 28
Great News! The Valley Express is OPEN which means all of our five high-speed six pack chairlifts are turning! Skiers and riders can now enjoy riding ‘coast to coast’.
The Green Line Shuttle will remain in place through January 8th. The Blue Mountain Inn Café operations will remain January 8th 9am-3pm daily, and 9am-3pm Saturday and Sunday as of January 9.
A very big kudos goes out to the Operations Team for getting this project completed despite some extenuating circumstances and to our team members who adapted and continued delivering a great holiday experience for our guests.
Thank you for your patience and we hope you’re as excited as we are to get out and try our upgraded lift!
