As the season progresses, we\u2019ve received over 250 cm of snow here at Blue Mountain, and the conditions are stellar. Our snow operators take great pride in testing the snow themselves by making a point to get out and ski or ride. It\u2019s part of the job, and it gives us a real feel for how the snow is shaping up before we hit the slopes with our grooming equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you look up at the Rinus and Avalanche, you\u2019ll notice the consistent moguls the team made.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to the snowfall and consistent snowmaking, we can review skier traffic and demand to get to work on moguls. First, we use our grooming machines to compact the snow, ensuring that the base layer is solid and stable. This gives the moguls a good foundation to sit on. After we have a solid base, we start shaping the moguls. The snow is pushed into even rows that are divided up evenly to create built-up\u00a0sections. A skilled operator with lots of experience will manipulate the blade to carve out the bumps, leaving them spaced in a rhythm across the run. The goal is to create bumps that are fun to navigate but also consistent in size and shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the moguls, we\u2019ve also been working on the Grom Bomb course in the Enchanted Forest. This course is built for the Grom Bomb event and then left open for the rest of the season and features banked turns, rollers, and small snow features designed for riders looking to practice and refine their skills. It\u2019s a great addition for young and beginner riders looking for something different or for those who want to work on their tricks in a fun, controlled environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The terrain park team is also polishing up the features in the Badlands terrain park in preparation for Red Bull athlete Liam Brearley coming to the resort on Monday, February 10. It\u2019s going to be a great opportunity for him to show off his skills on one of the hills he grew up riding at.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
