We\u2019re halfway through the ski season at Blue Mountain, and now\u2019s a great time for a quick refresher on slope safety.<\/a> Whether you\u2019re cruising greens or tackling double blacks, staying safe keeps the fun going for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Stay in Control and Be Aware<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
\n
Ski Smart \u2013 Stay in control, yield to those ahead, and avoid stopping where you can\u2019t be seen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Look Before You Go \u2013 Check uphill before merging or starting downhill.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Respect Signs and Closures \u2013 If a trail\u2019s closed, it\u2019s for a reason.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Report Incidents \u2013 If you\u2019re in or witness an accident, let Ski Patrol know.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
\n<\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Helmets: A No-Brainer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wearing a helmet is always a good idea\u2014it keeps you warm and helps prevent head injuries. If you\u2019re under 17 and in a Snow School program, helmets are required, as well as in Blue Mountain terrain parks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Be Ready for the Conditions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dress in Layers \u2013 Weather changes fast; be prepared.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stay Hydrated and Fuelled \u2013 Take breaks, drink water, and snack throughout the day.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adjust to Snow Conditions \u2013 Surfaces change; ski and ride accordingly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Terrain Park Etiquette<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Start Small \u2013 Know your skill level before hitting jumps and rails.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check Features First \u2013 Inspect the setup before going for it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wait Your Turn \u2013 Let the person ahead finish before you go.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clear the Landing \u2013 If you fall off of a feature or jump and are uninjured, please move off to the side away from the landing zone to avoid collisions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be Aware \u2013 Don\u2019t ski or ride through the park unless you intend to try the features.
