Conditions were soft but coverage was excellent across the mountain. Yes, you can actually get a sunburn in January! The weather pattern has flipped again and that means almost daily chances of snow. The systems moving through will be \u2018Alberta Clippers\u2019 with limited moisture but don\u2019t be surprised if lake effect helps squeeze out a few extra centimetres. The temperature remains mild through midweek followed by a significant cool down.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Nickel and dime snow will add up over time<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Every centimetre that falls is welcome news as crews work to mix the fresh stuff in with the machine groomed granular and variable surfaces leftover from the thaw. This will continue to improve the overall skier and rider experience as the week progresses. I don\u2019t see any big powder days in this outlook but don\u2019t underestimate the power of daily snowfall. The forecast for the week is in the 10 to 20 centimetre range which should bring the seasonal total close to 150 centimetres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Excellent snowmaking conditions return<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Snowmaking operations have been on pause recently, thanks to the January thaw. It all changes Wednesday night as cold air floods in. The upcoming\u00a0 weather pattern is ideal to make artificial snow and there\u2019s no sign of another temperature spike for at least the next 10+ days. Strategic snowmaking and grooming across the mountain will not only freshen up surfaces but also bring the average snow depth closer to a metre. Last year, the mountain didn\u2019t reach that mark until the end of January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Day to Day on the Slopes<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Through Wednesday AM:<\/strong>\u00a0Windy and mild with wet snow or rain showers. The temperature hovers just above freezing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wednesday PM to Thursday:<\/strong>\u00a0Periods of light snow and blowing snow (5-10cm). Turning much colder with the chilliest air of the week settling in. Thursday\u2019s high is only -11C with a windchill near -20. Bundle up as you hit the slopes and you\u2019ll be rewarded with some fresh snow!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Weekend: <\/strong>Friday looks good with seasonal temperatures and scattered flurries. It will be milder but still breezy across the mountain.
