140 Days!

With the winter we’ve had this year, it should come as no surprise that the 2013/2014 season will be one for the record books! On Monday, April 21st, 2014, Blue will set a new record with 140 days on-snow. 140 days!! That’s over four months of skiing and riding in Ontario…something not seen since the winter of 2008.

If you’ve been paying attention to the Lift Line blog lately, you’re probably already familiar with why spring skiing and riding at Blue Mountain is one of the best weekend activities in the area. Well, now we’re upping the ante in advance of our record-setting season with a weekend perfectly tailored to all you downhill diehards out there.

It all starts on Friday April 18th when Blue expands their terrain for Easter Weekend. With three chairs turning and access to the Easy Street Learning Centre and Badlands Terrain Park, there are still a bunch of runs waiting to be conquered. It’ll show you the best way to make your turns as you start in the Village and end up on the North side of Blue.

If you can only make it up for one day this weekend, make sure it’s Saturday. Blue Mountain’s epic Easter Meltdown begins at 9am with a Mountain Egg Hunt at Century Express behind the Blue Mountain Inn. Easter eggs will be hidden up and down all open runs and it’s your job to find them. Follow that up with the Retro Pond Skim & Best Splash contest at 1:00pm where skiers and snowboarders can attempt to jump a puddle of melted snow to create the biggest and best splash. Nothing says spring like your first swim! Then, at 3:00pm, there’s a cash prize on-deck for the winner of the Annual Egg Race. All you have to do is purchase an egg, send it down a river course in the Badlands Terrain Park, and be the fastest in this four-heat event. The entry price is $2 per egg and the winner takes home all the contest cash. Remember what your mom said about how quickly money adds up?!

The chairs keep turning into Sunday April 21st and events become family-focused with Easter in the Village. Start your Sunday with a Village Easter Egg Search running from 11am to 4pm or the Easter Egg Dive at Plunge! Aquatic Centre, also at 11am. After you’ve exhausted your search efforts, relax and enjoy MJ Bryne’s Horse and Wagon ride, the perfect spot to take in the sights while you enjoy some of the chocolate bunnies that may have made their way into your weekend plans.

Wrap up the weekend and hit the slopes one last time in celebration of Blue’s 140th day on-snow, Monday April 22nd. Old faithfuls, the Silver Bullet and Century Express, will keep turning all day long from 9am to 4:30pm, giving you an opportunity to experience what may be your last turns of the season. We know it’s been a long winter but the forecast is predicting plus temperatures, or in other words, prime conditions for your last spring day out on the hill!

By now, you’re probably wondering how you can get in on Blue’s record-setting season. By far, the best way to guarantee access this year (and next year, too) is to purchase your 2014/2015 season pass at Guest Services locations on-Resort. All of our pass products, including the Super Pass, 5×7 and Night Value Pass, will be available for purchase all weekend long at the early bird rates. As a bonus, if you buy your pass this weekend, you’ll be able to ski or ride for the remainder of the season for only $10 a day. Like we said, a Season Pass is your definite go-to.

So there you have it: an epic Easter weekend all in celebration of Blue’s record-setting season. You won’t want to miss it. See you on the slopes!
