Rain Day Plan

You’ve spent hours planning and you’ve been counting down the days to your Blue Mountain getaway, you check out the weather and see showers in the forecast. Not to fear! We stand by our mantra to live life outside – no matter what the weather. Here are some tips to help you prepare a rain day plan for your next visit to Blue.

Get Geared Up

Props to all of you out there who are prepared for anything when they travel. For the rest of us who have yet to discover that level of life organization, we need to figure things out on the fly. If rain jackets were not included in your suitcases the shops in the Blue Mountain Village can help you out. Experts in outerwear, Columbia Sportswear have everything you need to gear up and get out even when the skies open up.

Soak It Up, Buttercup

Don’t let the rain stop you from living it outside while you’re at Blue. Rain or shine, you can get out and Explore All Day. Put your waterproof hiking boots on and take a hike up and down one of Blue’s scenic hiking trials. Cascade Hiking Trail and Village Way are great trails that provide some shelter under the tree canopy. The Open-Air Gondola can get you to the mountaintop as well if you want to take an easier stroll along the top. You can also bring an umbrella and get in a round on Cascade Putting Course or stroll the Village. If the wet weather is more like a downpour and comes with some significant winds… okay, you may want to take the fun indoors.

Indoor Activities

Then the views of Georgian Bay and the Niagara Escarpment are just outside your window, it is easy to exercise your creativity. Pick up a paintbrush at Crockadoodle and craft a one-of-a-kind pottery piece that you can take home with you after your stay.

If you enjoy viewing creative pieces instead of creating them yourself, you can spend some time viewing the amazing pieces at Bright’s Gallery in the Village or the funky finds in shops like the Olde Stanton Store, Go Fish Go, Georgian Christmas or Jack and Maddy: A Toy Store.

Want to kick it up a notch? Axed Throwing is a rain-proof activity that your whole group can take part in. No previous experience required; fun is guaranteed whether it’s your first time or your fiftieth.

Jump in at Plunge!

Have fun poolside no matter what the season, rain, snow or shine. Plunge! Aquatic Centre features hot tubs, a rope swing, water slides and indoor-outdoor swimming pools. If you’re outside getting wet anyway, you may as well have some fun! There is something at Plunge for all ages even a toddler splash area for your little swimmers.

Take a Culinary Tour

It doesn’t matter what the weather is like when you’re exploring with your taste buds. You can take a culinary tour without ever leaving the Village. From a Canadian classic at Beavertails to internationally-inspired menus at restaurants including Mother Tongue and Tholos Restaurant.

Want to experience a classic? Whether or not the ski hills are open, Jozo’s Original Après is Blue Mountain’s iconic hangout for visitors and locals. You can watch the game on the big screens, tap your toes to the live music and share pub-style dishes with friends and family.

Listen to the Rain and Relax

Let the rainfall be your calming ambiance at Blue’s two on-resort spas. Kalola Life in Balance Spa is located inside the Blue Mountain Inn and offers massage, esthetic and wellness services. Across the Mill Pond from the Westin, you’ll find iWA spa, a full services wellness spa that compliments its spa services with its signature ganban-yoku warm volcanic rock treatments.  Both spas have lodging packages available for guests staying overnight on-resort.
