As we move further into this remarkable season, Blue Mountain Resort is excited to report that we’ve received over 300 cm of snow, with another week of snow on the way! The forecast continues to look promising, ensuring more fantastic skiing and snowboarding for our guests.
Our full complement of ski runs and lifts have been open and operating consistently the past week making our skiers and operators happy with the way Mother Nature has shown up this season.

Our hardworking grooming team has been busy managing the large amounts of snow to ensure optimal conditions across the resort. They’re carefully grooming, pushing, and, in some cases, storing snow in areas where it will be needed later in the season. These efforts are vital to maintaining the quality of our terrain throughout even the most challenging weather conditions.
In addition to routine grooming, the team has been focusing on snowpack renovations now that we have a significant base. Ski hill snowpack renovations involve the use of a special blade called a renovator, which turns the snowpack over.

Similar to aerating your lawn, this process breaks up ice layers and compaction, restoring the roughness to the ski surface. The renovator leaves behind a vertical corrugation at the grooming interface, which is crucial for creating a strong bond between the groomed snow layer and the base.
It’s important to note that the first day after a renovation can sometimes present variable conditions, as larger lumps may be left behind in the snow. While this might affect the initial smoothness, it’s still a far better surface than ice, and the grooming team does go over the renovated trails
Conditions will improve significantly as skiers and groomers rework the snow right after. By the second day, after a bit of skier traffic and further grooming, the conditions transform into something even better, providing an ideal surface for longer.
With these ongoing efforts, we’re committed to providing the best possible experience for all of our guests as far into the spring as possible.
