How to Stay & Play All Day at Blue Mountain!

From zip lines to water trikes, we’ve got summer fun all figured out here at Blue! Our teams have been hard at work this spring updating some of your favourite attractions that you’re not going to want to miss. Let’s head on an outdoor adventure showcasing the best ways to Play All Day this summer!

There’s no better way to explore the mountain than to stay & play at one of the Village-side hotels like the Westin or Village Suites. They say the early bird gets the worm, so I pre-purchased my Play All Day tickets with my lodging stay. That way when I arrived, I could get right to the “playing” part of the day rather than the “waiting in line” part. Plus, lodging guests who purchase Play All Day tickets in advance receive a complimentary Early Entry Upgrade which gets us on the attractions 60 minutes early!

After a seamless check-in to my hotel and a good night’s rest, I put on my Play All Day ticket for my day of adventure. First I headed to Base Camp to get harnessed before hiking up to Timber Challenge High Ropes a whole hour earlier than usual. I used the Blue Mountain app to find my way there which was a great tool. Timber is about a two hour experience complete with three levels of difficulty, so it was the perfect way to start off strong! Pro tip: make sure you wear closed-toed and closed-heeled shoes while playing all day, as most attractions require it. Leave the Crocs or sandals for when you chill poolside later!

From Timber, I headed over to the Wind Rider Triple Zips, located just beside it. After walking through the safety chat, I flew into the air and zipped my way across back to Base Camp. It certainly beats walking down! After dropping my helmet and trolley in the return bins, I walked over to Lumber Lanes Climbing Centre located right below the Wind Rider Triple Zips to practice my climbing.

I chose the lane with the traditional rock climbing holds first and went up the grey path, which is considered medium difficulty. Lemme tell you, that wall is tougher than it looks! Once I reached the top (40 feet up!), I jumped off and auto-belayed down to safety. I wanted to raise the challenge, so I moved to one of the lanes with wooden grips. I could feel my forearms burning on the way up, but it was so worth the view from the top and the feeling of accomplishment as I auto-belayed down. I think I’ve had enough of the ropes for one day!

After a quick & refreshing lunch at Grand Central Eatery, I got back outside to continue the afternoon. I had waited long enough; the time had come to ride the Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster! Is it really a trip to Blue if you don’t ride the mountain coaster? I zoomed through the course at full-speed and screamed on the way down. The Ridge Runner is always filled with laughs and smiles from thrill-seekers of all ages.

I exited Ridge Runner and turned left to head to Canopy Climb Net Adventure next, which has been newly expanded this summer to include a tower and new net trampolines and bridges! Climbing and jumping around the nets made me feel like a kid again, but is deceptively tiring for most adults. My next stop, I decided, would be more on the chill side.

In search of a lowkey adventure, I headed into the Village to the Coca-Cola Millpond Activity Centre for a wee little float. There are Aqua Trikes that are super fun, plus they’re a pretty good leg workout. The pond is so tranquil and quiet compared to the hustle and bustle of the Village.

After I finished, I grabbed some ice cream from Chill Seeker and went to enjoy it on the Gondola. If you haven’t eaten your ice cream this way, you are missing out! The views on the 12 minute round trip are unbeatable – especially after a long day of adventure!

Once I got back to the Village, I was feeling pretty exhausted from a big day on the mountain so I stopped at the hotel to pick up my towel and bathing suit and headed to Plunge! Aquatic Centre for a swim. I quickly realized that Plunge could be a whole half-day adventure in itself and is perfect for little ones with an indoor/outdoor pool, waterslides, rope swings, and water playground! But I spent about an hour there, which was more than enough for me to cool down.

After a full day of fun, I knew it was time to wind down! Although I didn’t make it to the Blue Mountain Private Beach, Chutes & Loops Ball Run, the Cascade Putting Course, or the over 30km of hiking trails, I definitely had my fair share of adventure for one day. I guess I will just have to come back to play another time! After a stunning dinner at Summitview Pavilion overlooking Southern Georgian Bay, I settled in to my hotel room for a relaxing evening before heading home the next morning, already daydreaming about my next visit to Blue Mountain.

Serving cat lady energy, Allie’s the go-to for all things content and social at Blue. You may find her on the Mountain boppin’ around to T-Swift, or scrolling TikTok in Starbucks searching for bad memes (or as she calls it, “market research”).
