On a cold December 23, 2019 morning, over 450 costumed Santas, elves, reindeer, and more arrived at Blue Mountain for our first annual Sleigh The Slopes Santa Ski Celebration.
Holiday cheer was high as participants received a free lift ticket in exchange for decorating the slopes and themselves as their favourite holiday item.
To set the stage for the morning, the entire marketing team at Blue Mountain joined in on the fun dressed as Blue Mountain Elves to hand out complimentary lift tickets. Joined by the Marsh Street Band (one of Blue’s charities of choice) local school children entertained the crowd with a mixture of carols and fan-favourite classic rock tunes.
The best part of the day by far was seeing the parade of costumed skiers and snowboarders descend down Smart Alec as a group completing the day with a spectacle fit for the real Santa Claus himself.
With Blue Mountain’s 80th Ski Season set to kick off the 2020/2021 Winter, our next Sleigh the Slopes Event promises to be even bigger and brighter than the last. Until then and in the classic words of everyone’s favourite holiday story: “Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight!”
