We’re Always Outside

What a week! It was highly impressive to see the kms climb on the leaderboard last week. Last week we had 55 people log their runs for a total of over 1231.5km! That is so impressive.  Honourable mentions to the 5 all stars who all logged over 60km last week alone, and the 10 of you who ran over 50km! So very impressed.
The amount of engagement and participation from the group is truly inspiring. I have a big case of FOMO going from leading the charge to essentially being a very well dressed lawn ornament.  I would like to congratulate Melanie Maloney this week who hit a new milestone with reaching 23.8km. Her honesty in her posts is truly what this group is all about – encouraging others, and yourself!  I’d like to thank everyone who is giving kudos to each other. It might feel like a small gesture – but it sure is nice to see that little thumbs up when you check in.   Melanie – send us an email at socialmedia@bluemountain.ca

Congrats Melanie

This week’s challenge couldn’t be timed better. The weather this weeks looks incredible! Sunny skies and great temperatures all week long.  This week we are asking you to spend an hour outdoors each day being active. It can be hiking, biking, paddleboarding, running, canoeing, kayaking, walking, playing outside with your kids, taking your dogs for a walk, gardening, swimming etc. As much as we love a good patio with a cold beverage – that my friends does not count. We’re asking you to share your activity selfies this week to show how you are spending your hour outside.

Can we all agree that the prizes from The North Face have been exceptional? The next two giveaways are some of my most favourite items. This week we are giving away a pair of the Ultra Fastpack Hiking shoes, which I have decided are indestructible. Before I was laid up with the ankle fracture – I was hiking Blue Mountain, Duncan Caves and Georgian Peaks daily. It was mud season as it was still very damp and cold. I put these bad boys through mudslides, blazing new trails, and intense hill climbs working on pacing my descents. No matter how caked in mud they got, a few good stomps and they were clean again. My feet were never wet – even in pretty suspicious conditions. They are completely waterproof and lighter than most traditional hiking shoes. I will say that The North Face’s Hyperlight line has done a good job to manage the performance vs. tech. I find that a lot of tech products are every stiff and heavy.  These shoes are great for the uneven, challenging terrain, but they are a bit stiffer than a trail running shoe. These are great for the wet days, the hard hikes, long distances, and challenging uneven terrain.

This shoesies are the Ultra Fastpack Hiking…so happy and outside.

In the past week I have discovered they work really well for crutches, and making grippy noises on the way to X-Ray haha.
